Complex Underground & Geotechnical Works
Leighton's underground and geotechnical teams combine advanced design, monitoring and construction techniques to safely deliver works in highly constrained urban and environmentally sensitive locations. We bring together specialist tunnelling capability, geotechnical instrumentation and temporary works design so complex excavations and tunnels are completed with predictability and safety.
We specialise in tunnel boring, sprayed concrete lining and diaphragm and secant wall construction, alongside soil-nail and anchor systems and ground improvement. For deep excavations we design robust cut-and-cover or retained excavation schemes with tailored dewatering and environmental controls to protect adjacent structures and utilities.
On projects such as metro tunnels, large storage caverns or below-ground substations, our integrated approach aligns geotechnical and structural design with MEP sequencing and access logistics. Healthcare Infrastructure
