Role Description

Hydrogeologist based in Cairns, QLD, Australia will be responsible for detailed planning, coordination and delivery of assigned works within a multi-disciplinary project environment. This includes preparing and reviewing technical documentation, leading coordination meetings, supervising on-site activities and ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual obligations. The role requires proactive identification and management of risks, driving continuous improvements in productivity, and promoting a safety-first culture across the workforce. The successful applicant will manage stakeholder expectations, deliver against programme milestones and work closely with procurement, design and construction teams to resolve complex interface issues. Additional responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, contributing to project controls and reporting, and participating in design for constructability reviews to ensure practical, cost-effective solutions are implemented on site. Requirements & Skills

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in geotechnical engineering or geology.
  • Experience with site investigations, geotechnical modelling and ground risk assessments.
  • Competent in producing geotechnical reports and recommending mitigation measures.
  • Experience with tunnelling or deep excavation projects is desirable.
  • Australian work rights or appropriate visa required.

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Science or similar; postgraduate qualifications desirable for senior roles.
